AHI Team Leader

Period: October 16, 2006 to September 30, 2007
Avian Influenza
Community Risk Reduction through Surveillance and Response Project based in Koh Kong (2 positions) and Phnom Penh (1 position)

Monthly gross compensation for the AHI Team Leader shall from US$290.00 to US$332.00

1. Overall Responsibility:

Manage day to day activities of the Avian Influenza Community Risk Reduction through Surveillance and Response (AI – CRISIS Response) ensuring project outputs and schedules are accomplished; and provide assistance to Emergency Preparedness Coordinator on CARE’s Avian Influenza Pandemic Preparedness and Response Activities.

Specifically:
Management

  • Ensure public health and animal related issues around Avian Influenza are included in programmes being implemented with Garments Factories and workers.
  • Supervise AHI Community Animators project staff and day to day activities of the project, ensuring project outputs outlined in the project are achieved as per project timeframe.
  • Coordinate with Project Coordinator and/or Manager in assigned project or province on AHI project related activities.
  • Develop training manuals and related visuals relevant to Avian Influenza.
  • Provide technical support and enhance capacities of the project team, Village Animal Health Workers and Village (human) Health Workers on AI awareness, surveillance and response.
  • Facilitate and support local experts hired or engaged to enhance community awareness and partner skills for project implementation. Among these are the FAO, VSF, AED and other NGOs in Cambodia.
  • When delegated, coordinate with government agencies and other organizations working on AI such as the MAFF, MOH, NCDM, UN, AED, etc.
 

Community and Garments Factories AHI Awareness and Training

  • Take the lead on conduct of awareness and capacity building training and activities for CARE staff, partners and communities.
  • Develop training manuals and related visuals relevant to Avian Influenza specific for garment factory workers.
  • Document training related activities.
  • Keep an inventory of AI related IEC materials being produced by CARE, UN Agencies, Royal Government of Cambodia, NGOs and other organizations.
  • Keep track of CARE IEC materials being sent to CARE offices, communities, NGOs and other agencies.

Administrative and Finance Support

  • Take minutes of meetings of CARE AI Task Force meetings, workshops and planning in assigned district, province or programme.
  • Project data entry and translation of project documents and other related AI resources from English to Khmer and vice-versa.
  • Maintains records of all staff travel.

Other Activities

  • When delegated, assist Emergency Preparedness Coordinator and CARE AITF members in liaising with other organizations and individuals.
  • Assist Emergency Preparedness Coordinator in equipment and material procurement.
  • Undertake other duties (within individual competence and capacities) necessary to support the activities of CARE, as and when required by line management.
